ANNOUNCING THE SECOND ANNUAL "BACK TO BASICS" NATIONAL LEVEL FIRE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY FOR FIREFIGHTERS FROM EMMET AND

                                 SURROUNDING DEPARTMENTS

March 12,2006

ATTENTION: Emmet County Firefighters, Fire Officers, EMS Providers and Law Enforcement Personnel:

RFC Fire/Rescue , Station 48 is proud to announce the second annual "Back to Basics: Coordinated Engine and Truck Company Operations" training program, to take place on May 19,20, and 21,2006. This program is offered to all firefighters and emergency responders from Emmet County and surrounding departments.

The instructors for the program are nationally recognized and accredited experts who will be traveling to Northern Michigan from Ohio and New York to present both classroom and hands-on training to include live bum evolutions.

Following the success of last year's training, the 2006 "Back to Basics" class will include two levels.   Level 1 will be geared to participants who were unable to attend last year's sessions, and Level 2 will be geared to students who completed Level 1 and will include Level 1, but will advance into self-rescue and bail-out techniques, as well as providing more depth and experience with some of America's best and most experienced firefighter-instructors.

Participants in this training will learn the latest firefighting techniques from expert, national-level

instructors. Training is intense and hands-on under the guidance and supervision of recognized experts.

To participate in Sunday's live burn training, students must attend the Friday and Saturday sessions.

Sponsorship of the program this year is largely through a grant received from the Local Revenue Sharing

Board, the Emmet County Firefighters Association and numerous goods and services provided by local

merchants and citizen support.

Registration deadlines are important! We want to provide solid training with an acceptable

student-instructor ratio and we want to have appropriate resources and props. Register early!

Space and participation may be limited and access to hands-on training will be first come-first served based on the date your registration is received. We will provide commemorative tee-shirts to all applicants who register by the deadline BUT, participation may STILL BE LIMITED to first come., first served.
